Manufactured in our aerospace-approved and qualified presses, and NDT inspected to guarantee structural integrity, Toray Cetex® is delivered to you as a flat, structural multi-ply sheet, ready for rapid thermoformed parts manufacture.

Fast Processing

Recyclable

As stewards of the environment, Toray developed its Cetex® thermoplastic RTLs to be recovered for use in alternate parts, allowing 100% utilization of the raw material. Toray actively participates in programs with customers and research groups to develop new recycling techniques and applications.

Product Formats

Lightning Strike Integration

Toray Cetex® thermoplastic laminates are offered with an integrated surface fine bronze woven mesh for lightweight lightning strike protection in aircraft structures. This proven construction is qualified and in service on OEM aircraft.

Textures

Optimizing surface appearance is beneficial to esthetic performance and adhesion promotion. Toray Cetex® RTLs are available with a variety surface finishes, from anti-slip to smooth textures.

Sandwich Panels

Superior impact performance and moisture resistance make Toray Cetex® thermoplastic laminates the ideal solution for sandwich panels. Paired with outstanding FST performance, Cetex® laminate sandwich panels are well suited for high wear applications such as aircraft and train interiors.

Galvanic Corrosion Prevention

To prevent galvanic corrosion, a barrier layer between metals and carbon-reinforced composites is essential. Toray Cetex® thermoplastic laminates are available with a qualified glass scrim, providing an electrically isolating layer and eliminating the need for secondary processing.

Color Options

Save time and weight. Toray Cetex® can be pigmented to a range of colors to either completely eliminate paint or reduce the volume required to achieve visual quality.

Processing RTLs

Reinforced thermoplastic laminates are ideal for the high-volume manufacture of composite parts due to their rapid processability, and can be easily processed using a range of methods.

Welding

Welding provides a seamless joint between substrates and can be married with overmolding to add functionality and integrate additional parts, making it an ideal alternative to time-consuming and potentially weaker adhesive bonding and mechanical fixation techniques.

Thermoforming

The high-quality consolidation of Cetex® thermoplastic composites in both UD tape and RTL formats allows for simple heating and forming processes that take minutes.

Toray Cetex® reinforced thermoplastic laminates (RTLs) are orientated to your required specifications, and can be press formed in minutes and overmolded for one-shot processing.

Overmolding

Integrating Cetex® endless fiber reinforced composites in an injection molding process combines the strength of high-end composites with the design freedom and complexity of injection molding parts.

Trimming and Routing

Toray Cetex® RTLs can be cut to shape for secondary processing, most commonly by sawing, milling, or waterjet cutting.

Forming Simulation

Modern-day software accurately predicts forming Toray’s Cetex® laminates, giving a near-to-reality insight in the production process. This makes parts more efficient in geometry and material usage and at the same time shortens time to market. This software also prevents costly bridging and consolidation issues and helps avoid deformations and wrinkles in the fabric.
